CBD is short for Cannabidiol. It is one of over a hundred cannabinoids that are present in the hemp plant. Both hemp and CBD were made legal in the USA by the 2018 Farm bill which legalized production of hemp which contains less than 0.3% THC (the psychoactive component of Cannabis). In contrast to THC, CBD is not psychoactive. CBD provides a number of benefits to the user when ingested or used topically.

CBD oil is the common term for ingestible tinctures made with hemp extract and a carrier oil. Flavorings and other ingredients are sometimes added as well. Sub-lingual use (holding the tincture under the tongue) is a fast and effective way to get CBD into the bloodstream. At Welliva, we start with USA grown premium hemp flowers which then go through a clean extraction process to separate the plant material from the valuable active ingredients. This concentrated hemp extract is then quality tested by a certified 3rd party laboratory (tested for solvents, heavy metals, microbes and potency), and then blended with Organic Hemp Seed or MCT Oil. At this point the finished tincture is tested once again for potency. Welliva tinctures are released only after passing these strict 3rd party tests.

CBD and CBG are not psychoactive and will not get you high. Our broad spectrum hemp extracts are THC-free. While effects of our tinctures and gummies can vary among users, these products have been known to help manage everyday stress, promote restful sleep, regulate mood, and promote mental and physical equilibrium. All Welliva CBD products are now made with THC-free broad spectrum hemp extracts. Most drug tests target Delta9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and typically do not detect the presence of Cannabidiol (CBD) or other legal hemp derived cannabinoids. ​ Use of Welliva’s broad spectrum tinctures and gummies may still potentially result in a positive drug test. Use of topicals is very unlikely to result in a positive drug test. If you are subject to any form of drug testing or screening, we recommend that you consult with your healthcare practitioner, employer, or drug testing company before using our products. There is evidence that CBD can affect the activity of certain enzymes within the body that are responsible for metabolizing some drugs. If you are taking one or more drugs for a serious medical condition, please consult your prescribing physician before taking CBD or CBG tinctures. Hemp based topicals are not known to cause any drug interactions and are generally considered safe to use.

When we talk about CBD dosing with tinctures, it is important to understand a few key points. Welliva tinctures are taken orally as dietary supplements and for best absorption, it is recommended to hold the oil under your tongue for 30 seconds or more before swallowing. This is known as sublingual administration which translates simply into “under the tongue.” This method will allow the cannabinoids to enter your bloodstream more quickly and efficiently via capillaries in the cheeks, gums and under the tongue rather than simply swallowing the tincture and waiting for it to be processed by the digestive system. Every person reacts differently to cannabinoids, so there is no one size fits all dosage recommendation. Depending on your prior experience with hemp and cannabis products, your body weight, the condition you want to treat and the way your body reacts to cannabinoids, the ideal dose can vary greatly from person to person. Recommended dosages vary wildly – from 2mg of CBD per day to 1mg per pound of body weight! In reality, some people need higher doses than others to get the results they are seeking. The safest way to add Welliva CBD and CBG tinctures to your daily supplement routine is to start with smaller doses, and then slowly increase until you find your ideal dose. These tests show the expected amount of CBD, CBG, CBN and other cannabinoids per ml. Please note that cannabinoid potency testing is a relatively new science and results can vary up to 10% depending on the laboratory and equipment used. Consult your physician While hemp based tinctures are generally well tolerated and used safely by millions, in certain situations it is highly recommended that you consult a physician before taking CBD or CBG tinctures. If you have never taken CBD before, are already taking medications, are treating a serious illness, are pregnant/nursing or prone to allergic reactions, please consult your physician before using hemp based tinctures. Our products are made in small batches using quality, fresh ingredients. To ensure best results, we recommend using our topical products within 18 months of purchase. Tinctures have a 12 month expiration date from the date of manufacture due to the limited shelf life recommended by the manufacturers of carrier oils like hemp seed oil. To prolong quality and shelf life, our tinctures are bottled using biophotonic UV blocking glass which helps prevent light degradation and oxidation. Our CBG + CBD Lotion comes in an airless pump bottle which helps prevent microbial contamination as well helping prevent light and oxygen degradation.

Always store CBD products in a cool place with the lid tightly closed, inaccessible to children. Refrigeration is not necessary.
